There is nothing like going out of town to help you relax and let go of all the stress of the day to day grind. This year, my siblings decided we would go to Palawan. Knowing that I would have the hardest time getting my leave granted, we bought our tickets last year. Talk about long time coming!
I love traveling with my sisters. We understand each other's preferences so they know that on day 1 of any trip I am more than likely going to zonk out. It is hard to enjoy a vacation when one still feels tired and for me a vacation means I get to rest and sleep if I want to. If someone is dictating my schedule, how can I be on vacation? Yes, I admit it. Left to myself I would just veg on a louger by the pool and get some sun. Maybe swim a little and then get some zzzz to round off my day.
Never having been to Palawan though, we opted to stay in a nice hotel. Criteria in selecting a place to stay: 1) must have a pool 2) must have wifi 3) price must be within the budget. We arrived at the airport and were met by a shuttle from the Microtel. The hotel is nice. Very clean and quiet. The rooms are all air conditioned. Our room opens to an awesome view of the water. Plus, it had a bathtub. Bring on the bubbles, I say!
We also met up with a friend who is from the area. Christian then recommended places we might want to see and tours we'd want to take. More on the tours in later entries.
Of course, a vacation is noting without great food. First on the agenda once we got settled i was where to have lunch. Christian took us to this little place called "Ka Lui's". From the outside it doesn't look like much. We stepped inside and it was really nice. Think bamboo meditation gardens. We were asked to remove our footwear before we were allowed to enter the main area. The bambo beneath are feet was soft smooth and polished to a high shine. Very comfortable to the feet. The atmosphere was truly relaxing and the food! Yummy and affordable. No wonder they are the number one restaurant in Palawan!
While most people would probably keep going out and about til the sun was back up in the sky, I was all tuckered out. My bedtime is usually at 2pm due to work. And I'd been up very early because of the flight. I opted for an early night.
There ends day 1 of the Palawan trip. Read more about our Palawan trip tomorrow.
